Governor Greg Abbott has lifted restrictions regarding mask mandates starting March 10. However, Trinity Spine & Orthopedics will require all patients and staff to still wear a mask when entering our facility. If you do not have a mask, Trinity Spine and Orthopedics will provide one. Our primary focus is to protect our patients and staff. If you have any questions, please give us a call at 817-283-5252.

Shoulder Injuries at Trinity Spine and Orthopedics

There are a number of different injuries related to the shoulder, but one that we see the most of here at Trinity Spine and Orthopedics is related to the rotator cuff, usually a partial or full tear. However, there are a number of issues that can afflict the shoulder and common causes for shoulder pain. These include:

  • Tendonitis
  • Arthritis
  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Bursitis

Luckily, we have Dr. Larry Kjeldgaard on staff, and he is extremely knowledgeable in both diagnosing and treating shoulder injuries. Because the shoulder offers us a great deal of mobility, it is also at great risk. There are a number of joints that could have problems, leading to instability in the joint or pain from problems with the soft tissue or bony structures. The pain may be constant or felt only when the shoulder is moved, but there are methods for alleviating it.

Causes of Shoulder Injuries

Like many other joints, a majority of the problems with the shoulder result from overuse or acute injury from a fall or other accident. Generally, an MRI is used to diagnose the problem, but for more severe injuries, an arthroscope may be used to gain a much more accurate diagnosis.

Treatment at Trinity Spine and Orthopedics

When you suffer a shoulder injury or feel any sort of shoulder pain, the first thing you should do is consult your physician. They will ensure that the shoulder was not dislocated or that there are no fractures. At that point, an MRI will be used in cases where the pain persists.

Once the injury is diagnosed, our doctors work with the patient to develop a treatment plan that will allow the patient to recover, usually without resorting to surgery. Our conservative approach tends to involve a mix of medicine, rest, and physical therapy, but this varies with each patient because their goals are always different. Whether you need to get back to work or back in the game, Dr. Kjeldgaard and the other doctors at Trinity Spine and Orthopedics can help you meet your goals.
